Nurseries and Schools
We provide outdoor learning opportunities for both nurseries and schools. We work within the experiences and outcomes of the Curriculum for Excellence and tailor individual learning programmes or topics for each group we work with.
We specialize in providing individualized sessions for classes or small groups, targeting a key learning outcome or topic. Sessions can be tailored around science, numeracy, literacy, art, community learning, geography, history or sustainability to name but a few topics. Or they can be for the experience of engaging in the natural world or perhaps to learn new skills.
We can also provide “Cluster Days” for multiple classes or year groups.
The Outdoor Woodland Learning School fully endorse the following statement about outdoor learning made by Education Scotland:
“Such experiences inspire passion, motivating our children and young people to become successful learners and to develop as healthy, confident, enterprising and responsible citizens.”
The core values of Curriculum for Excellence echo the key concepts of outdoor learning:
“challenge, enjoyment, relevance, depth, development of the whole person and an adventurous approach to learning.”
Feedback
“I would like to take this opportunity to compliment Pip and your service. It was a truly rewarding experience for the children and indeed the adults (seeing the children in a totally different light). “
